For the Highest and Best Good of All

When asking for guidance, many contemporary teachers emphasize the importance of always stating that you are asking for advice that is “For the Highest and Best Good of All.” This assures that any information that you receive will be good for everyone. It takes ‘selfishness’ out of the equation. I first heard this from Tony Burroughs, www.intenders.com, among many others. Marilyn Harper, www.adironnda.com, also added “and for my own best comfort.” Growth can happen with many different kinds of experiences, so why take the ‘hard’ road?
I ALWAYS make this statement before I do any of this kind of work. It is an ‘insurance policy’ that any information or advice you receive will be supportive to you and all people/animals/plants/etc. you interact with. Once you get into this habit, you just do it automatically.
